St. Mary of the Assumption offers a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults – RCIA, that provides the opportunity for you to come to an informed decision about this choice.

Adult Confirmation classes for those adults that missed their Sacrament of Confirmation will begin on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 for six weeks. Classes are on Tuesdays at 6:00pm in the PMC and will run for 6 weeks in preparation for a Parish Confirmation event to be held on Saturday, April 29. These classes will prepare the adult 18 years of age or older for the Sacrament of Confirmation which will be celebrated with our Bishop. For children 7 years or older who HAVE NOT yet been baptized or whom were baptized in another Christian tradition and wish to become Catholic, there is a special process of formation called the Rite of Christian Initiation. If you are interested in beginning classes, pleaase register please contact Kate Barta at kate.barta@stmarystaylor.org or 512-352-2133.
For children older than 8 years who ARE baptized Catholics but have not yet been prepared for the Sacraments of Initiation. The process of formation for Sacraments for these children calls for two years of formal Catholic education/faith formation, followed by the reception of First Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.
