"Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit...in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life.... Catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community" (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1309).
Confirmation candidates must complete two years of formal Catholic education either through a faith formation program or Catholic school. Who is eligible for Confirmation? Any student in 9th-12th grade who has completed all sacramental prep requirements. At St. Mary's, Confirmation takes place during 9th grade, most often.
Confirmation Class Info for Students in their 2nd year of Formation: This year our Confirmation Students in their 2nd year of formation (most often 9th graders) will receive formation within the context of our youth ministry program on Wednesday evenings.
To be eligible for the Sacrament candidates must:
-Be registered parishioners of St Mary of the Assumption, Taylor
-Participate regularly in Sunday Mass, Holy Days and the Sacrament of Reconciliation
-Attend weekly Confirmation Sacramental prep sessions (Attendance is required with 3 excused absences allowed.)
-Attend a Confirmation retreat
Part of our Sacramental preparation for Confirmation involves:
-Engaging in communitiy service
-Choosing a patron Saint and writing an essay
-Completing a Confirmation interview
